Diet

To ensure that your beardie(s) has a healthy diet, give them a variety of different food in the diet. Have one main leafy green a week. Offer/rotate a different topping each day. Also they need a good diet high in vitamins and protein.

Walks

A good walk with your bearded dragon can create some fun. Putting a harness and leash on your beardie and taking him for a walk around the house or in the backyard on nice days, gives him some adventure.

Exercise

Exercise is a great way to keep your bearded dragon fit and healthy. Block off a secure area of a room. Let your beardie(s) run around the secure area for about 30-60 minutes. This will help keep your beardie(s) fit and stretch out some muscles.

During Exercise

During your beardie(s)' exercise around the room. You can make a temporary basking place with your beardie(s)' basking log or rock on the floor. So whenever they get too cool to run around the can go and bask on their rock for a little and then go and run around again.

Activity

To keep your beardie(s) "mentally" happy and healthy is to offer some challenged into your beardie(s)' life. A good activity that stimulates some brain power is a good hunt. Crickets, open space, and hiding places, all make a good hunt. More hiding places for the cricket, make your beardie makes them think. It's a little challenge to occupy them for a little bit. A difficult hunt makes a beardie think "were is that cricket, how can I get it."

(note: this activity may not be good for hatchlings or some bearded dragons, for it may cause stress and frustration.)

Shedding

During your beardie(s)' shedding time it can make them stop eating for a few days, which is normal. A good way to help them out is to soak them every day or every other day to help loosen up there old skin to shed more quickly. You should also give your beardie a bath once a week. And mist them with water once a day.

Safety

Safety is an important issue that you need to take seriously. To make your beardie safe in his enclosure, make sure everything is stable, so nothing will slip or roll over and hurt him. A good trick that I have found out myself is to hot glue gun on any object's surface that you are go to put against a glass surface. Such as a branch that you want to lean against the glass tank but it keeps on slipping. It hot glue gives it a firm grip. If you need a more stronger grip hot glue gun the bottom of the object that hits the floor.

Interaction

Did you just get your beardie, or is your beardie not letting you hold him. Try holding him more frequently like once or twice a day. If he has a problem like always jumping away, try to hold him firmly. Placing your index finger under his chest area and your thumb over his back. Do not hold him too tight. And walk around with him for a little and sit down with him in a quiet place, with his back end near your chest to make him feel more secure. Eventually your beardie will get the idea that you will not hurt him.

When you about to hold your beardie you can let him roam a little BUT keep a close eye on him. Because he can go and hide under desks, papers, and furniture. Just make sure the place is clear with no pets.

Security

Security is very important when it comes to a bearded dragon. Most are able to jump quite high and run very fast. If there is no cover on the top of the enclosure or on the sides. It is most likely they will find a way out, either with branches or just a strong jump. And if you do use a screen for any part of the enclosure, be careful because if the holes in the screen are too big your beardie will either get his head stuck, or get injured.
